Whitening is a fantastic way to brightening your smile without any weakening or loss of tooth tissue.
The aging process, smoking, tea and coffee are just a few of the things that cause your teeth to yellow and discolour over time. Whiter teeth can take years off your appearance and with a little care and maintenance along the way the results can last a long time.

HOW DO I WHITEN?

Tooth whitening is based on the application of a hydrogen peroxide based gel to the tooth surface. The correct gel opens up the pores in the outer tooth shell to allow gentle whitening of tooth structure. Plenty of dental and non-dental organisations promise to whiten your teeth but as with most things – it is not always quite what it says on the tin. It is always best to get the job done right and to get the job done once, it will save you time, disappointment and money.

WHY CHOOSE US?

We have extensive experience with all types of whitening systems and a detailed knowledge of whitening gel types and concentrations. We will ensure the correct method will be chosen to suit your smile, giving you a predictable pleasing result.

DOES WHITENING WORK ON ALL TEETH?

Although the teeth themselves whiten well, any fillings or crowns will remain the same colour and may need replacing to match the new lighter colour of your teeth. Following the whitening process your old restorations can be renewed to seamlessly match your new tooth colour. We recommend you wait 7 days post whitening treatment before old restorations are replaced with new whiter ones.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO WHITEN TEETH

Ultimately, this depends on your starting point and how white your desired smile is. With tray based home whitening, most patient achieve the result they wish for within 14 days.

For some patients who have experienced tetracycline staining within their tooth structure, the process can take up to 6 months using a combination of whitening methods. In our home whitening kits, you receive 24 nights worth of gel, which is enough to cover your first whitening top up generally after 12 months.

HOW CAN I LOOK AFTER MY NEW SMILE AFTER WHITENING?
  • Moderate your intake of high tannin foods and drinks
  • Stop smoking
  • brush your teeth twice a day with a fluoride toothpaste – we tend to recommend the Oral-B brand
  • use an electric tooth brush as it removes food debris more effectively than a manual tooth brush
  • cut down on how often you have sugary foods and drinks – maximum once per week
  • visit your dentist regularly
  • regular hygienist cleans
  • Consider airflow tooth polishing
